Hello!

This a new case for me. I have brought in lots of special need chickens, but amputees are my first.

There is a rooster at my workplace (humane society) that we suspect was dumped and developed frostbite over the cold stretch we had. The frostbite took majority of his toes off and he is left hobbling. It looks calloused over for the most part and he is doing great otherwise - eating, drinking, pooping. I know roosting is out the question for him so I am looking at other alternatives. Maybe a dog crate for nights? I am also looking into pain management for him, if anyone knows any natural routes, I’ll try those out first before taking up medicine. If anyone has any experience, I’d love to hear your wisdom.
