My TS layers are dying off after only being 2 yrs old :-((( one by one they are getting lethargic then eventually found dead in the coop, I need some serious help because this is the 2nd one to go. The other was Over the last winter. Just found the second one today... why is this happening !? We medicate their food, plenty of water, free ranges with lots of space... I don't understand! I have 9 hens 1 roo. HELP!!
Sometimes chickens and hens die for reasons we can't discern. What breed are they? I know friends with different breeds seem to lose their production layers much before their dual purpose birds It seems things can and do go wrong with the reproduction system on their heavy layers. If you've lost only two in almost a year it doesn't sound like anything contagious.
If you would lose more you might want to have a necropsy done or check into worming or treating for coccidiosis. I'm not sure medicated feed on a long term basis is a good idea.
In speaking with an avian vet she said the medication is so low to help in only a few instances. I use medicated feed, one small bag only if I buy chicks, not if I raise or hatch my own.
You might get better answers on one of the medical forums here as I don't think it is a TSC problem.
