I need help dealing with my turkey chicks keep bunching up and the ones on the bottom fall asleep and get squished on to death. I have 100 , 20 have died,. They have 3 rent a coop brooders that are meant for 50 chicken chicks. I have tried evenly put them under each brooder at night.
I checked on them at 4 am , one is dead , laying flat on its side. Today at noon 7 more died. I have seen When they are about to die they can't stand up, they have their, mouth like panting and they die right after I move all the chicks around it.
Are the brooders too hot , too low?
Should I divide the brooder up into smaller places ?

They have 3 heating pads that they go under of, I started off with only 2 pads so they were about 40-50 chicks under each one in day one
I put in a third heating pad last night and 7 more ended up being crushed this afternoon.

Unfortunately I don’t have any experience with heating pads…they look a little low to me but it could just be the angle. Let me see if someone more experienced can assist…
@R2elk @casportpony could you please help? Thank you so much!
