I have 2 six-week old BCM cockerels. Recently this one developed some white spots on his chest. Is this normal for a pure BCM? The other cockerel doesn’t have it.

The person I bought the eggs from did tell me that her fence had come down in a storm and there was a small chance her Delaware roo could have hooked up with the BCM ladies- Could that be what happened here or do some BCMs have white spots?

Unrelated- I’m going to be rehoming/selling/swapping him regardless. I just want want to be honest with whomever takes him from me.

It's not barring so not from any Delaware influence. I have seen a few pure Marans that develop white feathers as juveniles then molt them out by maturity, so although not common it happens. there seems to be a mixed feedback on if it's genetic or environmental
Thanks for your response. I really don’t think they got mixed, but wanted another opinion.

I had this same thing happen! My cockerel is still molting them out, but they have been coming out slowly but surely:)

Thats a great question! Because I had the same one. I purchased some BCM hatching eggs and noticed one cockerel with white flecks on his chest and shoulder but only on one side! 20240329_155542.jpg
