So I bought from Ideal hatchery for my first bantam chicks
They were Silkie Frizzle Sultans and Cochins had 8
6 were Roosters
Spring 2022
Hey look locale TSC Assorted Bantams and Premium Pullets
Bought 8 and 2 were Roosters

Traded 6 runner ducks for some chicks 2 were rooster

Broody hen hatched 4 out 3 were Roosters

Bought some juvenile 2 Silkies both were Roosters(which I kept )

So March 1 I bought 6 chicks and then March 3 I bought 6 more
How many do you want to bet are Roosters ?
With my luck at least 8 are roosters

Roosters are good! They make great dinners, and you are guaranteed fertile eggs for hatching !

I'm sitting over here praying I can get a rooster from my current one to continue the bloodline (purely sentimental reasons lol). But I know they can be hard to re-home! Wishing you better luck this time around

I kept a sweet cockerels out of a favorite broody hen that was raised in the coop with his Mama and my 2 flock roosters for pure sentimental reasons
I've been lucky with people looking for either young roosters for butchering or flock roosters , but how I want some more pullets

Yeah they do make good dinner. I just had way too many at once and I can't seem to pick pullet chicks

That's always been my luck when I have a hen hatch out chicks, the majority of the chicks are always roosters!

For sure, not all livestock auctions are bad, the folks round here are real good to their animals
