I am also sorry for your loss. I can't imagine what it would be like to lose any of my new "kids".
I talk to mine, too. They are only about a month and a bit old, but while I'm holding them I praise them for growing so quickly, call them all beautiful and feathery....my wife thinks it's a hoot, considering I wasn't interested in even having chickens at the house. Right now they whislte back at me. I like to think they are talking.
