Five years have passed now since the rain's initial return and the land's miraculous restoration. Nearly all the native horses have been out-done and overrun by the newcomers, with only one small family band still clinging to existence, but the cycle is about to change again.
The unnatural do not survive here; Mother Nature has ways of dealing with all who oppose her. Only when everything is kept in balance does the land renew itself as it should.
