We loved the original "Hennebunkport" so much we decided to build a smaller version of it! It could not be cuter, or more perfect for the size of our yard. Our three little chickens love their swanky, palatial, digs. The overall coop size is about 4 x 4 x 7 (approx) and the run is 12 x 6 x 4. The roof on the coop, as well as half the length of the run, is tin. The coop door was constructed from recycled barn-wood, found in a neighboring rural town. The run door was made from bits left over from the coop door. The flagstone porch was an additional splurge, but we justified it because, well, we didn't want to track mud into our 'lil coop! We made it predator proof by burying hardware cloth around the foundation of the coop, as well as around the run. Apparently it's working, as you can see our very intense and curious Jack Russell has not been able to gain entry! Dennis, my guy, is a whiz and a saint for making my coop dreams come true.
Thank you, Dennis! Although Dennis used the basic Hennebunkport design, he really didn't draw up any plans, most of it was "fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants" planning. We love it, and the neighbors think it's pretty cute, too!
