My husband, two daughters (2 1/2 and 3 weeks), and I live on a small farm in southwest Virginia. Our home is a beloved sanctuary and a continual work in progress-I don't think it will ever be finished in our eyes and we love that. We have one dog, three cats and 22 spoiled chickens. 3 buff orpingtons (including Maggie the most amazingly sweet rooster in the world), 3 standard blue cochins, 3 gray silkies, 3 barred rocks, 3 australorps, 4 partridge cochins (including Sammy the rooster), and 3 buff brahmas. They are all 12 weeks old, we have our fingers crossed that the roosters will get along and that none of our silkies are males (I cannot tell at all yet). We are still working on our coop and are hurrying to get our nest boxes in. We have gained a wealth of knowledge from the Backyard Chicken forum and are very glad to have come across it.
