I just lost two of my old girls (they were best friends) not too much time when one passed then the other. Floppy wasn't her normal self and overnight passed/unexpected. Summer sat and wouldn't do anything-like she just gave up. We took Summer into the house and she spend the last few weeks of her life with us. Passed with me holding her. I so miss them. They have their little personalities....such sweet lives will be missed.

This was an informative article. I especially like the sand idea, as I wasn’t aware of how the sand helps to regulate chickens’ body temps both in the summer and winter. Could you tell me if there’s a particular kind of sand to use as I have heard many mixed messages on what to lay down on the coop floor to be safe for my chickens. Ty

Very insightful information, Especially for a new chicken owner. I do particularly like the idea of using sand as a base for a cleaner Coop and nesting box. What do you feel about the nesting pads? I bought some, for when The weather starts to get more rainy and cold. Thanks again for the helpful article.
