I love this! I did a search for nesting pads that would be soft and nice. It was impossible to find anything until I found your article. Do you have troubles with small pieces of pine shavings or things off their feet sticking to the fabric and have to pick it all off prior to washing? Have you tried other fabrics?
I didn’t even know there was this much information available about feeding pineapple to chickens! My girls will be getting a few tiny morsels this week. Thank you!

Nice plans and great pics! Love the rake to smooth the sand. I do the same thing with mine weekly to make everything look fresh and clean. Thanks for the updated info!

No details or facts to back anything up. Calling bumblefoot the result of poor management is also not accurate. My chickens have one and a half acres to free range in. They climb in arborvitae branches and walk over the roots of trees. There could be a rock with a sharp edge. I cannot control the millions of rocks and stones and roots in my yard. I can leave my beloved girls stuck in a run all day long with no freedom, or I can let them free range in which they might get Bumblefoot. That is not poor management, that is environmental and it is choice.
Where is the proof of 100% safety in giving this to chickens? There are too many other healthy things to give them without taking any risks. Appreciate all the detailed info on the tea and benefits of it though!
Love the idea, but I couldn’t see how the misters work, only just how to wire them to work. Would love more info on how the misters are set up, or even just a link to that info. Great set up you have there!

This is adorable! I can’t wait to train my girls to do cute things. Maybe I can also teach them to be gentle to my fingers when I bring them mealworms. Thank you for this article!

I have a chicken going through all of this now. The first thing I noticed was her slowing down and her eyes not looking at as bright or wide open. She just looked tired! I missed the first stage you mentioned. Then she went through the 2nd stage you talked about. Last night, she looked hunched over as she sat alone in the sunshine. Walking appears to be difficult for her now. This last winter has been hard on her, especially from the snow everywhere forcing confinement she isn’t used to. For a timeframe, I noticed the first signs about 3 weeks ago. I’m Guessing she will be gone this morning. I do feel like this has been a very natural and peaceful process for her.
