I soaked a paper towel with pure diethyl ether, and my hen was unconscious as soon as I dropped it in the container. What tripped me out was that my hen never did the "dead bird flop". I left her in the sealed tub for 12 hours -- the tub was clear, and it was like she went to sleep and never moved at all. That really threw me for a loop.
