Loved the comparison of the 2 stories. My only experience mirrored yours with your hen, not your friends. Did same things, but to no avail, so we had to euthanize her. Poor baby!
Good information, and the BTU info was very helpful. I have 18 birds in NE Ohio and I generally use a heat lamp around 20 degrees and below.
