Very informative. One note is that crumbles weigh less than pellets, maybe almost half the weight. By weight, then, chickens eat about 4 ounces of food per day, average. Surely larger birds eat more.

Short, sweet, and to the point. What attachment do you have on the pop bottle for the feed? I want one, or two. Where to get them?

Well written with so much great information. Other causes which could be added for not laying would be molting, and stress (predators, death of a flock member, being chased by other animals or humans)

Informative article for the rookies and a good reminder for the experiences. May I also add heat exhaustion/stroke to this? Because chickens have down feathers, they can overheat and die in excessively hot weather. Also some breeds are less affected than others. Keepers need to be aware of weather, and provide cooling shade, mist, fans, water or damp dirt, cool treats to help them cope with the heat.

Just what this new cockerel mom needed. Very useful information. Have had to pin him a few times now, and he loves the grooming. Even washed some sticky wattles today after having his melon treat.
