Minks tormented and killed many of our local owned hens last year. We had a very bad problem with rats after a new sub-division was put in. The mink came for those rats, did a wonderful job of erradication them, then came for everyone's hen's. The mink follow creeks and drainage ditches, and will come back to the area of a former kill. We used the red blinking eye lights (amazon), holographic crinkle tape hanging from trees and fences, and aluminum pie pans that hit together in the breeze hanging from string or wire. No kills this year.

I watch the color of the combs. Also as they age they have produced less and less eggs. One day I was cleaning the greenhouse and found a rat nest with 6 eggs in it. The rats SOMEHOW carried the eggs across the yard and into a rats nest below the pallet of straw. I would love to know if they rolled them or carried those eggs across the yard, through a drain pipe and into the greenhouse..
