Additional Information | § 90.29 COMMUNICABLE DISEASES. (A) No person shall permit any animal or fowl owned or controlled by him or her to be at large within the city if the animal or fowl is afflicted with a communicable disease. (B) Any animal or fowl afflicted with a communicable disease which is dangerous to the public health may be summarily seized by the police and after certification by a licensed veterinarian that the animal or fowl is incurable and dangerous, the animal or fowl may be disposed of by the Police Department in a humane manner; provided, however, that, any animal or fowl afflicted with the disease, but determined to be curable by a licensed veterinarian shall, upon request of the owner or person controlling the animal or fowl, be kept by the Police Department until such time as the animal or fowl is found to be free from the disease. (C) All expenses incurred by the city, including, but not limited to, veterinarian\'s fees, food, medicine and housing, shall be charged to the owner or person controlling such animal or fowl and shall be collected by the Police Department prior to the release of the animal or fowl.
