We bought 2 Rhode Island Red & 2 ISA Brown chicks from a pet store in Chicago on March 27th when they were one day old. It was an impulse decision. We had actually gone in to set-up an aquarium but when we go it the store, they had these chicks right by the front door and my 5 year old and I just could not resist the temptation. We were worried about where we would keep them and were advised by the pet store guy to keep them in an aquarium.

When we came home, we had to do a makeshift heating arrangement with our tripod lamp hovering over the aquarium. One of the ISA Browns was shivering so I had to roll her up in my A-shirt to keep her warm for an hour and then put her back in the aquarium. I named her "Shiver" but my 14 year old changed her name to Pepe after the founder of KFC (irony intended) a few days later. The other ISA Brown was named Marcy, after Marceline the Vampire Queen from Adventure Time. Our Rhode Island Reds were named Beak and Treehole. For some reason, my 5 year old calls them Beast Boy and Tree Trunks, the latter also from Adventure Time.

We let the chicks out in the living room after their first couple of days. We also built a slide out of a box for them to use. After a week or so, we let the chicks outside for their very first time.
