I’m not sure this is specific to all Black Sumatran females, but mine gets jealous when I pick up any other hen. She will peck them when I put them down. She gets cold in winter below 32 degrees Fahrenheit, and I had to bring her in. She is person specific. She enjoys only a few people. I have found that while flighty, if it’s cold out, this chicken enjoys being held. She actually makes a purring type sound. I’d say it’s a sort of cooing.
