Cattle Panel Hoop Coop

I use fence panels for all kinds of things and will probably do something similar to this in the future. Did you use the panel with the graduated spacing? I couldn't tell for sure from the pictures. I get the impression that this is not fastened down and that you can scoot it around like a chicken tractor in the mild seasons. I think it is a reasonable way to add shelter for more birds/different birds. It is also a simpler build than a framed, wooden coop. I wonder, like another reviewer, if that is enough ventilation in the winter,. I am in the deep south and that plastic would give me condensation issues. I would also have to tie it down or stake it.
I really like your idea for a cattle panel hoop coop. I plan to have my hubby make this for me for our meat chicks to sleep in. You have some very good details, like the supply list and the explanation about attaching the cattle panels onto the top of the 2x4 instead of the side. I would have liked to know the overall dimensions of the base, and details about how you framed out & made the door. Also, where did you use the chicken wire? Was that for the front and back? Or for the door? I don't plan on using chicken wire because it does not keep predators out and we have very hungry, ambitious raccoons where I live. I am also not sure that you have enough ventilation ( at least in my opinion) for the winter version. Overall, very nice article with great ideas. Thanks for posting it.
While there aren't many build pics, this is still a good article. As the author notes, there are lots of how-to videos on building hoop coops, so there wasn't a huge need for another. The tips, however, are worth the read, especially if you're an over-six foot chicken keeper. Thanks!

I'm 6'1" and I can stand in the center, with shoes on. I'd say it's roughly 6'3" in the center, using dimensions given and stapling the pannel on top of the frame.
