well we have been working on this coop for a littel while now. and are still working on it. We made it so it can be an open air coop in the summer we need that here in texas but can also be closed up in the winter. all the windows are covered with hardware cloth. the windows open at an angle so that they still receive protection from rain , wind and excessive sun, which can be pretty bad in the summer time. after crawling around in the old coop, and the mess of lots of shavings we decided to have wire floors with removeable clean out trays, we have 2 nest boxes per breeding cage, and a pressurized automatic nipple watering system installed, along with feeders that are filllable from the outsides of the cages. we are also fencing them thier own free range area and planting a raised bed garedn about 10 inches deep covered with hardware cloth so they cannot peck the food to the ground killing it( we found a omega mix organic too of rye, clover, and bunch of other things chickens love to seed it with) the hardware cloth allows the grasses to grow thru it but keeps chickens from pecking it to ground thus killing it so it just keeps growing) well to make watering thier garden easy, installing gutter off thier roof rain water caught in a rain barrel, then funneled to a drip irigation in the beds. All of nest boxes are interior but with outside door for access. Putting in a misting system for in the summer to keep them cool. in the yard, a sand box, and small nesting area for laying eggs while ranging, all covered with bird net for saftey, we are just gonna sink some lanscape timbers to attach it too. All of our ideas came mostly from byc, friends and the internet. And alot of trial and error
