We're relatively new to the chicken breeding business but have bred other classes of livestock for 3 decades. At present (11-12-13) we have a starter flock of BCM and BBS Marans with a couple of black Ameraucauna to make some OE. Our test hatch is in the incubator and due 11/21/13 with 6 BBS Marans and 10 salmon faverolles X ?? barnyard mix eggs.
Some of the birds:

This guy is about nine months now and his first chicks are cookin' in the incubator as I type. He was on high alert when these were taken looking at my dog.

This guy is around 11 months. I like the depth of his body. I did clip his right wing. He is starting to get some copper in his saddle now.

Showing his "Roo'tude" like, "WHAT?"

This is a very young (possibly OE) pullet. She was purchased as a blue copper Marans but investigation has found she may be OE. Her pal is a blue copper Marans. They are both May '13 birds and we are waiting to see how they turn out.

Still getting his colors. His legs are a light slate color with nice feathering.

This little guy is 7/22/13 hatch from some VERY dark BCM eggs (I bought the bird, not the eggs but they are local). Here he is later:

I like his bone. He is just starting to get some copper on his shoulders.

Kind of a 7/8 side view. He is a duck-and-cover kind of a guy when I'm trying to take photos. At some point he will stand up like a cockerel and I'll be able to see his backline and tailset. It's not a wry tail, he was just looking back at me. I like the depth and balance of him at this age (about 3.5 months here).

I like the totally black color and width for his age. That glare off the sickle is NOT a white feather. I think he is promising and one to watch.

More on the pullets later!
