Here is the coop that my husband and I built last spring. The coop is 8X10 with 8 foot walls (the roof area is open also) The run is 12X12. It is fully insulated, which we are glad for as it got down to -44C this winter!! Oursix buff orpingtons just love it! (They will be a year old in June) No fighting, no smells - we're all happy :) We have 6 nesting boxes about a foot off the ground and they use every single one! The door on the pen, the door on the coop and all the windows were bought from habitat for humanity. I made the shutters by painting and cutting down and old closet door. The "siding" is plywood made to look like siding that we hammered on in sheets then painted sunny yellow. For bedding I use pine shavings. For winter bedding I use a mix of pine shavings for absorbency and straw for insulation (about 2 feet of it as we did not insulate the floor) We do have a 250 watt heat lamp that I turn on once it gets colder than -20C outside. Id be happy to answer any questions :) Oh! I forgot to mention that we have a battery operated door!

Thank you for taking the time to look at my coop :)
