This turkey coop is designed for 6 hens and 1 tom. I have Kentucky Bourbon Reds.

This turkey coop is the same as one of my chicken coops. The only difference is in the chicken coop I used 1/2 by 1 wire mesh for the floor and for the turkeys I used 1 by 1 wire mesh for the floor. Also the turkey nest box is 2 foot wide by 5 feet long and the chicken nest box is 1 foot wide by 5 foot long. Almost all of the wood was purchased at Home Depot from their 70% off cull rack. I even used a router to make the plywood look like T1-11 siding.

The run is 8 foot wide by 10 long and about 7 foot tall. The door to the run is 2 foot wide. I use 14 gauge 2 by 4 wire to cover the run that I purchased at Tractor Supply. I also use a tarp system to cover the run. It rolls up and down to cover the run for rain or if they need more shade. During the winter I use a clear tarp so they can get sun. We live in Michigan and it does get cold and snow.

The coop is 5 foot wide by 6 foot long, not including the nest box. So the turkey coop with nest box is 5 foot wide by 8 foot long and about 7 foot tall. The 10 inch wheels are from Harbor Freight. It makes it much easier to move the coop. The run is not that heavy, it takes two of us to move it. I also block off the nest box during the time the turkeys are not laying. I have since attached what we call their roaming area. They have a additional 16 foot wide by 50 foot long fenced in area to roam with roosting post. The fence is only 4 foot tall so we added 6 foot netting to make it 10 foot tall. Young birds even with their wings clipped can still clear this.

At some point I will draw up the actual plans and post them.
