Without how, who and why things was done leaves a lot of questions. It would of been interesting. Also I’m a stickler on predator proofing. You have beautiful birds and I’m sure as you go you can give us more info. On how you accomplished it.
Your birds are beautiful and seem to be enjoying their space.
For this to be a good article, some more details about why you chose the space, how to designed and built the coop and run and how it is predator proofed would be useful.
Things have been going pretty good with this setup for the first few years. We liked this spot initially because the back wooden wall was already standing. There was a structure there once in the past. So we built the coop right in front of it and incorporated the freestanding wall as the back of the coop.
We used hardware cloth all around the bottom up about 3 feet high. Then the rest is chicken fence, all the way to the top. Half the roof is wood covered, the other half is green plastic fencing. So far no major issues other than a stray rat trying to move in. There were a few spots they could climb up the wood wall in the back and over the lower hardware cloth section. We purchased a handmade hen house from a nice gentleman from a town near me that sells them on Craigslist. The compost bin being located just outside seemed to happen by chance. At first, we didn't realize how great that'd be, but now the chickens help till it regularly.
