Very informative of how you accomplish this! I too would worry about the coop being totally dry first before putting down your DE and bedding.

You might want to consider horse bedding pellets for bedding. That we only change once a year and it keeps the coop dry and odor-free. We have no mite issues, partly due to the dryness, and we too sprinkle DE on the floor and in nest boxes.

Good step by step instructions although it's best not to use water when cleaning a coop, it can breed mildew.
