This research was never completed and thus far extends over the course of several months.
Day 1. Hillcrest homestead purchase closed, family members come to see new home but alas, the former owners are still in residence.
Day 2. Arrive at new home, former owners still there, leave before shtf, first stop, buy 4 EE bantams and 2 ducks at local TSC return home and politely ask sellers to please gtfo as agreed. Go back to former condo with chicks inside plastic bin.
Day 3. Drive to new home, former owners still there, place chicks in small pet fenced area and sit outside the home enjoying the new land. Ask sellers when they are gtfo, insist you will be sleeping in new home on blowup bed, mention chicks and ask that their cat be kept at their new place not inside my new place stay until 2.
Day 4. Arrive check chicks in house, check former owners out of house, but still clearing sheds. Set up chicks in run/pet fence, begin moving in and unloading car. Catch former owners cat trying to grab chicks. Run it off. Move brooder bin to downstairs bathroom. Actually blow up bed and stay.
Day 5.Begin building Coop, hit TSC for supplies and come back with 4 more chicks. a RIR, a production red, a lighter yellow/white they say is good for meat, and a Plymouth rock. Start bathtub brooder and integrate all chicks and ducks.
Days 6-week 6. Read, learn, watch, build coop, clean bathtub brooder. Learn ducks are messy, chicks are cute, and that white chicken is a Cornish cross it eats non-stop and is practically fully grown by now.
Week 6. move all chicks and ducks outside into coop and smaller fenced run within fenced yard.
Weeks 7-10. arrange run, build automatic feeder, buy larger waterer, make a kiddie pool into a duck pond.
Week 11. buy 3 Svarthona's a pullet, a roo, & got a bonus chick (roo) and start back up the guest bathtub brooder.
Weeks 12 set up a "kennel" inside fenced in yard near run, cover with chicken wire and tarp, add perch and build a new cup style waterer for main flock.
Weeks 13 move Svarthona's to kennel, check on redness of RIR comb and start counting my chicks.
Week 14 Open Visitation for all chickens in extended run of fenced yard, move smallest svarthona back inside to tub brooder, remove baby roo from freetime for pecking chick, keep svarthona's in separate kennel. Svarthona chick seems lonely, TSC has Dollar Chicks! buy 2 white Silkies, 3 golden laced bantams (possibly Seabright's), get convinced to buy 4 labeled ISA but told they are "buff orphingtons" and a blue/black EE.
Week 15 Get a Roo "to rule the roost" and reduce pecking by Svarthona cockerel. Integration of Svarthona pullet and cockerel in just one night (after New Roo stood on baby roo and told him who's the cock in the yard, Come to accept the realization that we got 4 more Cornish X, no buff orphingtons but our New Roo comes with a bonus ISA pullet. Move Cornish X and Svarthona to separate brooder "crate" for pecking baby EE, (yup he must be a roo). Check RIR and EE combs for redness or squatting, Where are these rent payments?
Week 16 Building a chicken tractor for all 5 Cornish crosses, prepping the kennel for the Silkies and Seabright's to move outdoors. Visit TSC, get cattle panels to build a bigger coop and get 4 blue Cuckoo Maran chicks.
