Hello everyone,
I am a mature, Christian lady who lives in Florida with her son and we are having the time of our lives with our Rhode Island Red Hens! We don't have a rooster because we have neighbors on either side of our yard who wouldn't appreciate being awakened early every morning
.
It's so nice to be part of a group who loves their back yard chickens! One of my co-workers brought me six Rhode island Red chicks last February because I had expressed an interest in raising chickens for eggs to sell as a supplement to my income when I retire in a few years. We have had so much fun with the chickens! They have changed our lives for the better in more ways than one. I have a large back yard and we have a screened in coop with two laying boxes that the chickens have been using for the past month or so. They have grown to about 3 or 4 pounds, so the six of them are a little crowded in the coop and we are planning to expand before cold weather sets in. We live in Florida, so we are aware that the hens should weather the winter okay.
I am looking forward to sharing and learning more about our pets.
Donnette
