I never saw myself as a chicken person. I had pets parakeets, a dog, and other pets. I however never thought of having a chicken. We live right outside city limits. I could hear roosters crowing in our neighborhood. One day I inherited 10 chickens from an old family friend who passed away. Now I had no clue what to do with them. I knew nothing about chickens so I did what any sensible unknoladgable person does. I googled it. I would lurk this site looking for answers to my questions. Slowly my love for the birds grew. I learned that the 10 hens were in horrible condition. They had not been eating well, and had mites all over their feet. Needless to say most didn't make it very long. Now.. I felt that I needed more chickens.
I went to the local fair one day and saw the biggest chicken I had ever seen in my life. I loved it it was an amazing bird. I didn't even know what it was called. I got a card from the breeder and saved up some money. On an October afternoon we went to get our new chicken. It turned out to be a rainy day. But I was happy to drive out of town to get my new Brahma rooster ( See now I knew what it was and everything )
He was an old retired show rooster. We named him, El General. mostly because of how he walked. He was slow and calm and took long steps. It looked like he was marching.

Some time later I found a Brahma Hen ( Or what I believed was one) at the local feed store. Coo Coo is smaller than El General and was real mean to him. I had hoped they would have liked each other and had some chicks. But that was not to be. She attacked him and preferred the company of people.

Last year El General Died. I felt so sad. I wanted Brahmas again and so this year o got 10 of them though a hatchery.
