chickens love to eat and my thirteen hens sure eat a lot which if they are eating only chicken feed that can get expensive. There are many extra plants and other foods to give them. if you have a garden you would be surprised at what you can give them from the garden

if you have greens such as lettuce, kale, swiss chard, arugula, and bok choy that have been eaten by bugs don't throw them away it can be fed to your chickens. Many things such as cabbage greens, pea greens, and basil can also be fed to your chickens. some plants can even be super healthy for chickens and help them in medicinal ways!

things I give to my chickens daily:
  • Oregano: is great for chickens and helps strengthen the immune system
  • sage: is an antioxidant that also helps strengthen the immune system
  • Mint: helps calm and relaxed hens, if placed in their cage can repel mice and bugs, and lowers their body temps!
  • marigold: repels insects and when they eat the peddles they have a dark orange yolk.
  • Tyme: helps with respiratory health and has antibiotic and antibacterial properties.
  • Parsley: vitamin boosts blood vesicle development, and helps birds lay
  • lavender: helps calm and relax, helps blood circulation, and fewer bugs
  • Comfrey: Vitamins A & B12, high protein, and low fiber
  • Rosemary: pain relief
I typically just make a salad with all of that and give it to my girls.
