So we did it. We FINALLY got our chicks, our first ever. I have been wanting a few hens for the yard for years. When I was young a friend in the neighborhood had chickens and his dad kept a wonderful vegetable garden, I think that is where the fascination for such things came from. I am now in my late 40's and have made this simple little dream a reality. My friends dad passed away not so long ago but I think of him and thank him near daily when I tend my garden and watch the little hens-to-be.
It's the simple pleasures that we enjoy that makes life so rich and sweet. Our little chick family has certainly made life here sweeter than ever.
