43 Aloha Chicken eggs shipped from Phoenix, AZ to Los Angeles, CA in hopes of starting the first colony of Aloha's in southern California. Eggs came from the creator of the Aloha Chicken project.

Eggs arrived. 9 were broken and 1 was moldy.

33 eggs go into the incubator.

First candling: 3 early embryo deaths (1 at black eye stage). 4 blood rings. 6 clear eggs. Total of 13 duds. 20 remain in the incubator, of which 4 look iffy, ie, possible later stage deaths, but keeping them in the incubator just to be safe. 16 have good development, 2 of which have somewhat large air cells for day 10.

2 embryos dead at around day 7-8 development. 2 embryos dead at around day 10-12 development. 16 eggs go into lockdown. A few still look iffy when candled and a few show too much evaporation; nearly half the egg is air. My prediction is 8 will hatch on time and healthy.

Only day 19, but one egg has already pipped.

Day-19 Pipper is dead only to be replaced by another early pipper.

Came home to find Day-20 Pipper had made no progress. Took out the egg and heard no peeping. Opens the egg to find the membrane was completely dried and hard. Chick was still breathing. Helped it out. Looks like it had absorbed the membrane blood and yolk already and had already pooped inside the egg. Hopefully it makes it and becomes the first Aloha in Los Angeles.
