I love my chickens, I could go on and on and on about them! I've been looking for somewhere to make a profile for them, just because :p So I suppose this is as much for me and my obsession with my chickens, as it is for all of you guys willing to listen!

I'll start with my main man:
Name- Butthead/Butty/Handsome
Breed- Ameraucana
Age- ~3 years I think
Personality- He's the biggest of my birds, he protects his girls and keeps the youngin's in line. I adore him, and I worry less knowing he's looking out for my flock.

My little man:
Name- Screech
Breed- Silkie
Age- ~2 years
Personality- He's soooo silly, so entertaining. I rescued him from a teenage boy who bought him on a whim from the fair, dyed bright pink. I was hoping he'd be a female, but of course one day he crowed his screechy crow! He is OBSESSED with one of my golden girls, he chases her around alllll day- won't even look at the other girls.

My girls:

Name- White Chicken
Breed- White sex link?
Age- ~3 years
Personality- I used to dislike White Chicken; she is definitely a b-word, prrrobably top hen I'd say. Her butt was really gross when we rescued her, and it still is :/ I tried washing her a few times and that's when we sort of bonded, she behaved so sweetly (even though the bath barely helped). Small bird- reliable, big egg layer.

Name- Wanda
Breed- Wyandotte
Age- ~2 years
Personality- Wanda is definitely a b-word, but she's too sillysweet to hate :p She is the only chicken bad at being herded! If you try shooing her somewhere, she stands up straight and offended, thinking "what?? what are you doing?" with her chest out. Probably second top hen, here she is in her apron. She's big, but not a huge egg layer.

My Golden girls:
Name- Murder Hen
Breed- Golden comet
Age- 2-3 years
Personality- She is the one hen Screech is obsessed with. She is always watching out for her stalker, standing up straight, eyes wide, nervously clucking. Over the summer, I had to separate her from the over-amorous roos and put her in with the two young silkies in my backup coop. We believe she pecked the smaller one in the head hard enough to kill her, hence the name.

Name- I call her Gloria sometimes
Breed- Golden comet
Age- 2-3 years
Personality- She plays it cool. Near the top of the pecking order.

Name- Spaz
Breed- Golden comet
Age- 2-3 years
Personality- Spazzy! If I opened a nesting box she was in, she'd book it right outta the coop into the yard and across the run! Over the summer, she decided to sit on some eggs in the same nesting box as my super broody hen. She hatched two babies, was a decent mommy.

My Orpingtons:
-These girls don't have, just "orpingtons" or "my buffies". They are about 1 year old, lay good eggs, chase bugs, and are the only chickens of mine that peck at me. I'm pretty sure they do it out of curiosity, but they'll peck at specks on my clothes. They're kind of brats :p But they lay good eggs, and are reliable like my golden comets.

My mutts:

Name- Broody
Breed- Silkie cross
Age- ??
Personality- She is a stinker. She went broody a couple weeks after we got her, raised two babies. Then went broody again, raised one baby. She is a FIERCE mother. Now that she has no babies, she sometimes likes to just sit on eggs, which is actually really helpful in the freezing winter!

Name- ??
Breed- ??
Age-??
Personality- I have a funny relationship with this hen. She's shy and flighty, but also just blends in, doesn't like attention. I sort of forget I have her unless I'm looking right at her :X

Name- ??
Breed- Silkie cross
Age- ??
Personality- I love this chicken. My mom got her at a garage sale for five dollars, her owners were afraid to pick her up for some reason. I adore her and have no problem holding her, I even spoil her a little and let her eat out of my hand while the others quarrel over the treats. She is lower on the pecking order, so she gets her kicks out of bossing around the young ones.

Name- ??
Breed- Silkie
Age- < 1 year
Personality- The daintiest, sweetest bird I've ever had. She's low on the pecking order, but so small and sweet that the others don't really mess with her. I was so excited when she started laying her tiny white eggs!

My 1st babies:

Name- Baby Screech / Jinx
Breed- Silkie/golden comet (I expect, since Screech only <3's Murder Hen)
Age- ~6 months
Personality- I LOVE this boy. He and his sister were my first broody-made chicks, and I was so excited for the extra toes and furry legs. He's been crowing for a short while, and is really starting to love the ladies (he's still learning though :p ) He either likes me or I make him nervous, because he kind of likes just being around me. I'm hoping my other boys allow him to stay!

Name- Beardo
Breed- Ameraucana/?? mix
Age- ~6 months
Personality- Beardo was hatched and raised by Broody along with Jinx. I would've assumed she's half Golden comet, but her legs are lightly feathered (so maybe 1/2 Broody) She's flighty, but absolutely gorgeous, and I'm soo excited for her to start laying!

My second batch of babies:
- Almost 4 months. These guys don't have names, because the two yellow Ameraucana/Orpington crosses are both little boys and I'm afraid I won't be able to keep them. The brown Ameraucana/golden comet chick looks to be female, but holding off on a name just in case. She and one of the boys were raised by Spaz, and the other boy was raised by Broody. These little ones make me laugh with their startled squawks and young, curious personalities. Excited to see how they turn out!

There's my flock! Thanks for reading!

P.S. I'll take name suggestions!
