We constantly strive to learn how to raise animals and plants for food production or other useful purposes in a way that is both profitable for the near future and potentially life-preserving for the long-term future.
In some ways we are behind the 8-ball in out efforts to learn and teach. But we can either give up and not do it at all, or we can do it to the best of our ability, however feeble that may be.
Our forum handle "Oreo" stems from our foundation ewe, Oreo, a great old sheep who has caught nearly everything we tossed her, forgiven us for multiple mistakes, and taught us many lessons about animal husbandry.
