Moved a free old yard barn from local farm to our backyard. We set the yard bard on a hay bail lifter of a tractor and used ratchet straps to secure it for the move down the road. The roof was leaking so my ingenious dad stapled on a soft canopy used on semi trailers. Once we get around to putting on the extra vinyl siding we already have, a new roof will be put on.

My kids and husband painting the yard barn with leftover paint to held protect the wood siding until the vinyl siding is put on.

Painting and the chicken ramp complete.

The yard barn is 8' x 10'. The inside is divided into two parts, a 4' x 8' coop and a 6' x 8' potting/gardening shed. My husband framed the inside dividing wall and used an old louvered door for the "people door". The rest of the wall is made up of chicken wire to let an electric fan circulate air.

The nest boxes have door I can access from my side with a shelf above it for chicken decorations.

Pictures of the oyster shell in PVC pipe and the feeder and waterer made from 5 gallon buckets.

A 4x4 post has hooks attached to it that the waterer and feeder hang from. Also shown is 1 of 2 windows covered in mesh wire. The roof will get a ridge vent when it is replaced. The coop is cool enough with just two small windows and a fan since we are having a mild summer. The chicken pop door is raised by pulley.

The chicken pop door is a vinyl cutting board in a sliding track.

Chicken inspecting coop. I just cleaned it and hung the feeder and installed nest box curtains.

The nest boxes are covered in privacy curtains.

Close up of private nest box. I stapled fabric to the front and cut it into strips. The next boxes are plastic dishpans that can be removed to clean.

There are two roosts set at the same heights to avoid fighting and are removable. A window on either side provides air circulation/venting along with an electric fan.

$5 wire chicken egg basket with ceramic eggs. I use the eggs to train the chickens to use the nest boxes. Rooster thermometer hangs on the dividing coop wall.

Brahma chicken posing with new wall hanging.

Chickens enjoying yellow watermelon.

I use contractor fencing to keep chickens out of raised garden beds.

One of two eggs from this morning.

Chickens keeping cool under playhouse.

Outdoor feeder is in a tarp covered chicken tractor.

Weekly egg haul. Sadly only one blue/green. I think my Araucana has stopped laying or is hiding her eggs where I cannot find them.
