Recycled Coop

Good coop, great concept! Thanks for sharing.

Love the use of recycled/found materials! You've shown people don't have to spend hundreds of dollars to end up with a good looking, suitable coop for the flock. Glad it was a family project, that must make for some good memories!

I like that your whole family lent a hand in making the coop! I agree, what a wonderful project to work on with your son!
At first I thought the shutters on either side of the pop door were for ventilation, but then I went back and re-looked and now I think they are just decorative. Added ventilation would have been great.
What are the dimensions of your coop?
One concern i have is that you used chicken wire to cover your run. Despite the name, chicken wire does not keep chickens secure! Raccoons and other predators can reach through and tear through chicken wire without much problem. Hardware cloth/welded wire would be much safer.

If you were to build this coop again, would you change anything?

A really successful project, blessed with good luck in sourcing various free materials of the right size and shape. Standing it on pyramidal shaped concrete pads was a great idea, and good alternative to sinking them in the ground (using stone in this way has a long history of course). The photos convey lots of info on the construction process and scale, if someone wanted to copy it - with recycled materials, measurements are likely to vary or need adapting anyway, so plans are not necessary, as this build demonstrates well!
