Sandy River Coop

20 or so years of Chickens, I still love it so much. This coop started out as a medium sized dog house (see older article.} It grew and grew (calling it expansion 2 and 3.) Will there be an expansion 4? Hmmmm? What do you think??

I don't normally give a rating this high to a coop without plans, or at least detailed dimensions. But I found the idea of the coop evolution interesting and the design with the built in brooder and integration facility plus the way the coop fits into your overall property -- even including the feral cats -- was so well-considered that I had to add a star.

I personally would find it helpful if you included a set of "From this, to this, to this" photos to help people envision how their current coop might grow to meet changing needs.

Thank you SO much! I will for sure use your advice to do a "from this, to this!" I've struggled with how to make the transition's flow better in terms of one big story. I've just been at this for so long now that it's safe to say I'm a compulsive adder-onner! I've also neglected to take enough mid-project pictures. For the first time I feel like I'm actually all of the way done now, so I'll put more time into organizing this journey virtually. Thanks again!!

Good points are made that I don't have enough pics of construction or explanation so I just added a few pics in the middle. Hope it helps :-)
There was hardly any information on the actual coop. There was no info on the construction/expansion, and overall, there was just not much to go off of.

That's true. I deleted all of the previous construction info. as it just doesn't apply to the new coop and makes no sense to read about how I'm using a dog house for a coop, when I'm not. I'm simply not done with the expansion. I got distracted because I have a chick with Coccidiosis. Also, I've read ton's of construction info. and I personally find it useless. I value other people's pictures and brief explanations that help me get ideas of what works and inspiration for what I should do. I'm not trying to win a contest, so I'll add more pics and brief explanations when I'm done with the expansion (probably 2 more weeks,) and past the chick crisis. Peace.
