My name is Sonya and I live in Wilburton, Oklahoma. Right now I only have 3 hens (Silver laced wyandotte, buff orpington, and black australorp) and a pair of Pekin ducks. My coop was my first endeavor into chickens and it was built 2 years ago. I'm pretty proud of it...it's 10 feet wide, 8 feet deep and 6 feet in the front and 4 feet in the back. It's got a white corrugated plastic roof and the building is painted barn red. I've got a 12 feet long run attached to it that is covered in poultry wire on all sides and the top. There is a hard plastic pool in the run for the ducks and everyone seems happy, happy, happy!
On March 21st, I set 6 welsummer eggs and 6 pekin duck eggs to incubate in my LG still air incubator. I'm excited as this is the first time I've ever incubated or tried to hatch out some eggs.
My Welsummer eggs were not a good hatch. Two of them made it to pipping stage, but never did pip. I was so sad. The duck eggs are about to hatch and I have one pipping now....
