Describe 'Spa Day' here
Miss Rustie is one of my first four ladies I was given from a friend who was getting rid of 15 chickens. She is about 1 to 1 1/2 years old. She has always been the runt and the one to be picked on and pushed out. She's my favorite and I have always felt bad for her. Lately though she has not been herself so I separated her by bringing her in the house.
Thinking she might be egg bound I followed some of the advice I found on BYC for egg bound hens. Miss Rustie received a bubble bath (and regular baths) that also included a gentle hind end feather wash and belly massage with classical music to help relax her. She so enjoyed it. She then received special treatment from her mama (me of course) with nestling together on the couch to dry off. Later she received a heating pad in her "house" and some of her favorite all time snack~night crawlers I bought for her from the hardware store. She was also fed treats in my new dessert dishes I received at Christmas. Daisy our dog enjoyed loving her by licking her. Miss Rustie didn't know what to think about that. After enjoying her 3 day 2 night stay at the Hen Hotel & Spa she has been placed back in the coop with her sisters and brother patiently waiting for Spring to arrive.
