This is a super article for anyone getting new chicks and not sure what to feed them!

As for medicated, we have some always on hand. When we transition from brooder to yard, ours have gotten coccidiosis X2 batches. The times I fed them medicated for the two weeks prior to moving outside, they did not.

In accurate information stating medicated feed contains antibiotics could lead newbies or misinformed chicken tenders to not use medicated feed when needed.

Informative article! Is it possible to edit it to avoid confusion regarding medicated vs non-medicated feed? It says "non-medicated feed is a good choice for those who want to avoid antibiotics...". However, the medication in medicated feed is NOT an antibiotic, it's a coccidiostat. I think the language in the article would be confusing to those who don't know the difference (also, is just incorrect). Other than that, nicely done!

Very simple and straightforward article on chick nutrition. Well written and easy to understand for the beginners. I would however have added some advanced tips in the end that would have improved the chicks quality of life, like for example which age to introduce greens, soil and grit to stimulate the chicks developing immune system and the addition of boiled egg to add animal proteins and their nutritional factors (most industrial feed have soy as the only protein source which is cheap for our pockets but not ideal for growing chicks).

A great article about feeding baby chicks. I would add that the medication used in most medicated feeds to prevent coccidiosis, amprolium, isn't actually an antibiotic - it's a thiamine blocker.

I feel much more confident about my choice of chick feed after reading this. Also I find it interesting to note the foods that are toxic to dogs are also toxic to chicks.
