I have two children who are 8 and 6 yrs old. They've been asking for chickens for awhile now.

I had chickens while I was growing up and loved it! I couldn't wait to share the experience with my kids. I found a small storage building on craigslist for $200. I figured that just the materials to build one would cost me more than that, so I jumped on it.

It was almost complete but I had to finish the rest.

My two helpers showed up and we built a door!

We set some post to make a "lean to" off of one side.

Topped it with tin roof to provide an area for the chickens to stay dry while outside.

We like it so much that we decided to do the same on both sides.

Started on the back run, I wanted to give the chickens an area to hang out in the sunlight.

About got it framed up!

My wife helping me get started painting. She enjoyed painting more than I did.

The interior is pretty simple so far. Just placed some roost and hay inside. Our hens are still young so nesting boxes will come later.

It's coming along! I used 1/2" x 1/2" hardware cloth all the way around and left about a foot of it folded outward for digging predators at the ground.

Covered the excess wire with top soil.

Finally finished for now. I think the chickens like it! Thanks for looking!
