With limited carpenting skills and physical abilities I found this gem on craigslist. Started searching for Playhouses and waited for the right one. Patience was key but it paid off. $50 for the house, leftover hardware cloth from the gutters, leftover stain from the deck and a padlock later I had myself a coop!! hobby lobby had the signs on sale for 80% off. I couldnt help myself!
This is a really nice little set-up and it presents well. If you could add some details about what you did and how, it would really help. Most people don't realize that, even with limited skills and time, a playhouse conversion can be cheaper and more solid (not to mention bigger and cooler!) than the flimsy prefab coops offered by most retailers.
In the beginning the only changes i made was cosmetic. I painted it pretty with some leftover paint. i attached the hardware cloth on the inside of all the windows with a staple gun. Found some old lattice to cover the larger windows and screwed those on for extra security. The shelf inside contains a sink. I removed the bowl and was ecstatic to find that it perfectly holds a beginner feeder or waterer. It currently holds a feeder with oyster shells. I screwed some eye hooks into the shelf to hang some curtains. What I have discovered with my mixed flock is that some will NOT share a roosting bar. I thought the ladder would work but they hated it, I found 3 of them sleeping on the shelf. So I attached some fallen branches between 2 and 4 inches thick at different levels with 4" screws coming through the outside walls directly into the branches. They are loving it! Benefit more floor space! With winter coming i thought the coop would be better off the ground and closer to the house. So my husband attached some 4x4 posts under a piece of plywood to bring it up off the ground 2 feet. I did remove the picnic table from the frame to make a more solid piece. We wanted the coop close but movable come spring so we did not attach the coop directly. He took our jigsaw and made an 18 x 18 inch hole in the plywood, attached a hinge and a string, voila, trap door! We have a Brahma so size was important! I love that i can move the coop and its so lightweight! The playhouse is sold on Amazon for $420 KidKraft Modern Outdoor Wooden Playhouse with Picnic Table, Mailbox and Outdoor Grill. I got it for $50 on craigslist!! The inside measurements are approximately 43"L x 40"W. The slanted roof at its highest point is 59". Right now My wyandotte is the only one roosting on the top bar and the others prefer the bar over the shelf which making cleaning poo easy!
