Describe 'western maryland coop' here This is my coop i build out of necessity when my son brought home 5 hens and a rooster one day a friend had givin him. with no housing for them i had to get something built before our often cold winters here in western maryland set in. I still have to put on a metal roof and finish up some trim work on the outside i hope to do this spring. I had no real plans when i started building it. I am union carpenter of 32 years so i just kinda built it as i went. I think it turned out pretty well and my girls seem to love it. When we first got them i threw 4 sections of wooden fence together for a temporary house for them that was not predator proof by any means. After a week or two in that,i went out to collect eggs on day and was suprised by a 5 foot black snake with his head in the nest box going after my eggs. Now the girls are movin on up to the east side to that deeeluxe chicken coop in the sky
