Good information, but I don't think the prognosis is as abysmal as this article leads one to believe. I had a hen who laid a lash egg. I wish I had known earlier what her wrinkled eggshells meant, but regardless, after a course of antibiotic and anti-inflammatory meds, she was fine, and went on to lay beautiful (non-wrinkled) eggs. It did cause her to go into an off-schedule molt, I'm guessing just the stress of the treatment itself, but she's completely back to normal now. In retrospect, a few months prior to the wrinkled eggs, she seemed to have a "cold", I even heard her wheezing. I treated that, but never knew at the time that it could cause secondary problems like salpingitis. Now I know what to look out for.
