Now, you might be wondering, you can keep multiple roosters together, won't they fight? Well, the awnser is no! But there are guidelines. So, you may hear some of us on BYC talking about bachelor pads, Wich is a flock of all roosters. So if there are no hens around, roosters get along great. They form their own flock, with out a care in the world. They aren't aggressive towards humans also! They do still crow though. Now, you can keep multiple roosters in a flock with hens, however the roosters usually have to be raised together, and you need a lot of hens and experience.
The reasons you should keep a batchlor pad:
1. Rooster are beautiful!
Well, there is no point in hiding it, roosters are the prettiest! Those tails, and big floppy combs... I could go on all day. Imagine roosters just running all over your yard, being their truly gorges selves. Roosters are just visually attractive, ask the hens!
2. Plan B.
So, you thought you got all hens, but instead you got a few extra roosters. Or you hatch eggs, and can't bear to part with your little roosters? Well, they can go live in your rooster flock, and still be your special babies! You can also separate aggressive roosters, and have them be sweet again.
3. Pest control
You might be thinking, what do I get from the roosters? They are just eating my feed! Well, they are also eating your bugs! They are just as good at eating bugs as hens! Sure, no eggs, but they make up for it in personally.
4. Rescue shelter roosters
Unfortunately, due to the amount of people stuck at home, the more people who want chickens, and the more people who end up with oopsters. Some people take them to the shelter like a fog or cat. They live in a cage, no life for a rooster!
At the end of the day, I hope you consider having a rooster flock, it can be so much fun, and a great experience for people to have. All roosters deserve love, and this is a way you can give it to them.
