Wing Clipping

Helpful, just what I needed to know. I have a hen with an injured wing, and she keeps tripping on the first couple primaries that are hanging low.

Thank you for this article. Very well done and easy to understand. I'm a new chicken mama and have been concerned that my girls may try to fly out of the run. If any of them do I now have the information to help keep them safe in their home.

Great pictures demonstrating how to safely cut feathers on a wing. This is the same method I had been taught to do for my macaw parrot's wings. Only one wing each. This can seem a difficult task to do for a bird's safety but this article makes it clear and simple.

Very helpful article on wing clipping! I’ll know how to do it if the need ever arises for me.
Nice illustration of the feathers and the clipping technique. Photos of blood feathers would have been helpful.

Very good article.
Extremely helpful! I don’t clip wings, but did not realize there was a specific way it should be done.
Very helpful article!

I am in the only clip one wing camp. Some of my Mediterranean breeds can still fly quite well with both wings clipped. Not so well with one clipped.
