Wing Clipping

Simple article on describing the basics of wing clipping. I found the part about the blood still in the quills very helpful. Most talk about feather trimming and how to do it, but very few mention checking to be sure the feathers aren't still growing.

Helpful, just what I needed to know. I have a hen with an injured wing, and she keeps tripping on the first couple primaries that are hanging low.

Great pictures demonstrating how to safely cut feathers on a wing. This is the same method I had been taught to do for my macaw parrot's wings. Only one wing each. This can seem a difficult task to do for a bird's safety but this article makes it clear and simple.

I am in the only clip one wing camp. Some of my Mediterranean breeds can still fly quite well with both wings clipped. Not so well with one clipped.
