Hello!

We bought 4 Cuckoo Maran's and one of them looks NOTHING like the other three. I have a feeling it's not the aforementioned breed. They are about 8-10 weeks old. I thought maybe it was a Golden Cuckoo Maran--but I'm thinking no. Can someone please help identify and also if you know the breed--can you also tell me the sex as well. Thank you!

Hi Rainy78! It is looking girly to me. I can't think of any breed of chickens that look like her, I would guess a black sexlink. What did she look like as a chick?

Did she come from a hatchery or breeder? I'm thinking mixed breed bird, so if from a hatchery she would be a black sex link. What do your Marans look like?

That's an awful lot of gold in the hackles to be a black sex link, but I guess anything is possible. @Rainy78 , do let us know if you bought from a breeder or a hatchery. That will help us figure it out.

She was black with a little bit if a white patch on her head

We bought her from a place called "Fairburn Tractor Supply" in Georgia. Does that help? They are our first bunch of chickens.

That does help. You have hatchery stock, not mixed breeds. What I would do is call the store and find out what hatchery they buy their stock from, then look on the hatchery website or call the hatchery and find out what breeds they sell. That will narrow it down a lot for you.
