Weak Chick..Help!

I got my order from ideal today. All live chicks, thank goodness. But one is has a weak chirp wont eat or drink. I dipped its beak in sugar water, got heat. can I do anything else?? Do I just wait and see?? She has separated herself from the group and just stands in the corner breathing pretty rapidly....

I don't know what you can do for her....Sometimes chicks just have a rough time of the trip, and there's little you can do. You could seperate her from the others, so that they won't step on her or peck at her. Make sure she stays warm.
 
I have put a separate little basket right under the heat source for chicks that aren't doing well. Electrolites mixed with water a few drops at a time and let them rest inbetween giving them the water. (but,if you feel she is sick, it might be time to set her up in her own brooder....desk lamp over a small cardboard box will work in an emergency.)

I can't tell from your post if the chick is just having a hard time breathing or could she be too hot already?

I don't think she is too hot. she didn't look well when I picked her up she was droppy eyed and lethargic. She is having trouble breathing and she churps with every breath, or its more of a whine. Mouth open and a little click with every breath. She is no better since my first post. I am setting her up in her own box cause she is getting picked on. I have been giving her sugar water by dipping her beak. She won feed at all..
 
Were there wood shavings in the box when they came? If so, she may have injested some.

I would try giving her sugar water every 15 min. - half hour. She probably doesn't actually need food yet if she hatched within the past 48 - 72 hours. Keeping my fingers crossed for your little girl!

My ongoing saga with the new baby chick. She seams to have a prolapsed umbilicus??? Is that possible?? For a second i though it might be pasty butt but the pic is of her umbilicus.. Anyone know what this is?
