My chicken Feathers normally lays brown eggs. She is a red star,
Yesterday I found this white egg in her nest. Any reasons for this?

sometimes tint changes based on diet, sometimes on age of the hen. sometimes sneeky neighbor chickens/easter bunny hard to say for sure.

Hey Chookies

Also It could be because of the Climate too (seasons). My BR would go from a nice brown egg to a tinted eggs. That occured in the Summer months (I think). But they will go back in time to the regular colour again. Are they free range or cooped up???

I had a friend tell me that his bird had a malfuntion in her ovaduct and she was a Brown layer turned white layer. Also the shells were soft too. But I don't think that happened to your Red Star Gals..

Don't fret though she will get back into the swing of things..

A red star is a cross of RIR (brown egg layer) and white leghorn(white egg layer) She maybe taking after her mother

They free range all day, they don't know the likes of a coop.

No, the egg was not soft shelled.

Apparently Feathers is part New Hampshire.
