This is my first Leghorn Experience.. They are now nearly 2 mths old and "WILD". I have never had leghorns and my other breeds havent been so hyper.. Im wondering if they ever calm down??

Only when they're dead....

My Leghorn Obelisk is 4 and she's still a nut. Thinks you're gonna toss her into the nearest vat of hot oil and 17 herbs and spices. You can tame them down a little if you have the time to sit quietly and hand out treats, but be prepared for them to take the treats and run away to a safe distance before they come back for more.

Oh Great. I just ordered 3 chicks from Meyer: one a Leghorn. But I spoke with someone from mypetchicken and she swears her Leghorn is the friendliest of the bunch; she said most of their stock is from Meyer. So I am keeping my fingers crossed.

Mine were from Meyer... They were beautiful birds, but they ticked me off. Every time I walked out the door, all I'd see was my flock heading for the woods following those Leghorns.

One probably won't be bad. They are laying machines!

Man, I've had dozens of lehorns and all I can say is that everything spooks them and they are really crazy! They are ALWAYS hyper. I have one adult now left from one batch since they were too crazy and she is a nut case too. She runs up behind me and follows me like a dog. Then as soon as I turn around she looks at me and freaks out like I was going to eat her on the spot. Yet she comes up and is usually one of the first to come grab goodies when I bring them out. Wild bird needing some ritian I say! She does lay like crazy though!

I let my girls out and free range most of the day and Im afraid to let the Leghorns out with them. I dont want them all to go crazy.. I had the Leghorns and the Welsummers together and they were all crazy.. so I decided to seperate them. Now the Welsummers are fine.. I believe Im just gonna give them time to start laying and sell em off.. If I can stand them that long..

Oh... my leghorns are just shy of two mths old.. the rooster crowed the other day!!!! is that normal to crow that young??

I guess they know if you order 1 chicken you will most likely be ordering more in the future:yiipchick
